The Middle Ages are still visible in every corner. The fortified town wall with its round corner towers bears witness to times of war, princely politics, and the era when this town was a trading center for the salt trade between southern Germany and Lombardy. The inhabitants of Glurns also had their own unit of measurement, markets, and the seat of the princely court. What the Pied Piper is for Hamelin, the famous mouse trial is for Glurns. The exhibition “Stations of a Small Town” in the Sluderno Tower Museum illustrates the town’s history through trade and defense, markets, and professions. The museum also provides access to part of the medieval defensive corridor.
