In German: Diversity in children's books

3/22/2025 10:00 - 12:00

Books are essential for children's education. They explain complex issues in simple language, provide children and parents with answers to difficult questions and help them to discover and understand the world. However, they often convey a clichéd image of reality and contribute to children associating gender, age or skin colour with stereotypes from an early age. This affects both the perception of others and their own self-image. So what should you look out for when choosing books together? Can books help to break down role models and prejudices?
In this workshop on diversity in children's books, participants will train their critical view of the reproduction of social conditions and receive valuable input for inclusive, diverse and norm-critical children's literature. The workshop will be held in German.
