Hike to the Ötschspitze Peak (2,590 m)

Beautiful and safe summit hike with panoramic 360° views of the Sarntal Alps.

Starting point: Wanser Hof car park

End point: Wanser Hof car park

Refreshment points: Wanser Alm, Auerhof

Directions

The hike starts at the parking area near inn Wanser Hof (1,439 m) in Walten. Follow the wide forest road no. 14, which climbs gently into the Wanser Valley towards Wanser Alm (1,640 m).

After passing the alpine hut, continue along the trail with a moderate ascent further into the valley. Crossing gentle alpine meadows, you reach the head of the valley. Here, the trail turns left and climbs more steeply up the slope through several hairpin bends before becoming gentler and heading right towards the Wanser Gruben.

Crossing these broad open mountain pastures, the trail becomes steeper again and climbs through several bends towards the weather cross at Wanser Joch (2,245 m).

From the pass, stay on trail no. 14. The route initially continues more gently to the left before becoming increasingly steep as it crosses a saddle towards the summit.

Following the rocky and occasionally slippery trail, which is never exposed, you eventually reach the summit of Ötschspitze (2,590 m).

The descent follows the same route as the ascent, taking trail no. 14 via Wanser Joch and Wanser Alm back to the starting point at the parking area.

The trail is not suitable for strollers and wheelchairs.
