Mountain Tour to Seespitze Peak (2,434 m)
A beautiful summit hike with a magnificent summit cross.

Ascent via Seebergsee Lake to Seespitze Peak
Your hike starts at the parking area near Wanserhof (1,439 m) in Walten. First, walk a short distance downhill, then keep left and cross the bridge. From here, follow trail No. 15 into the Sailertal valley towards Seebergalm Alp. The trail initially leads through dense, pleasantly cool forest until you reach a wooden bridge, where you cross the stream.
Continue along the tractor track and, at the next junction, turn left across the stream again. You now follow the wide tractor track at a leisurely pace until you reach Seebergalm Alp (1,709 m). From the alpine hut, you are only a few minutes away: in just five minutes, you reach the shore of the idyllic Seebergsee Lake (1,742 m).
Continue on trail No. 15 and, shortly after the lake, stay on the No. 15 trail markings. From here, climb steeply along a ridge covered with alpine roses. About 200 metres below the summit, the trail leads up to the right across a steep alpine meadow towards the beautiful cross of Seespitze Peak (2,434 m).
Descent via Wanser Alm Alp
From the summit, first descend along the ascent route back to Seebergsee Lake. Here, turn onto hunters' trail No. 14A. The trail leads into the forest, where it continues gently uphill for a few more metres before descending through several switchbacks towards Wanser Alm Alp (1,640 m) in the Wansertal valley.
From the alpine hut, follow the easy forest road No. 14 back to the parking area near Wanserhof.
The trail is not suitable for strollers and wheelchairs.
Recommended equipment
War sturdy hiking boots, appropriate clothing for the weather and bring sufficient water and provisions.
• Coming from Meran towards the Passeiertal Valley, take the Jaufenstraße SS44 to Walten, after St. Leonhard
• Coming from the Jaufenpass towards Meran, take the Jaufenstraße SS44 to Walten, before St. Leonhard
• Coming from the Timmelsjoch towards Moos, continue on the Timmelsjochstraße to Walten, after St. Leonhard

A light physical condition is sufficient for this tour. A little surefootedness for the last part below the summit is ideal.
Always stay on marked trails, check the weather conditions before you hike and pay particular attention to snow, wet ground, or slippery sections.
