Wednesday will bring persistent low stratus in some valleys. Elsewhere, a mix of high cloud and sunshine is expected. On Thursday, conditions will continue with a combination of low stratus and sunshine.

A north-westerly upper-level flow will bring moist air masses towards the Alps.
In the north, the sky will be very cloudy with light snowfall at times on the border ridge. In the southern mountain ranges, especially in the Dolomites, there will be some sunny spells.

A transient ridge of high pressure will bring settled winter weather. In South Tyrol, northerly föhn conditions will temporarily develop.
Along the mountains of the main Alpine ridge, light snowfall will ease during the early morning. Thereafter, conditions will become increasingly sunny. In the southern mountain groups, sunshine will prevail from the outset. In exposed areas, a cold and strong northerly wind will be blowing.
