Human Shapes

The open-air art project "Human Shapes" began in 2015 and presents ten significant figures who have shaped the culture of Merano. The busts are positioned along the Passer Promenade, forming a unique gallery. Each year, three to four new sculptures are created, offering contemporary interpretations of the lives and works of these individuals. Instead of traditional monuments, they invite visitors to reflect on Merano's cultural heritage and experience contemporary art. The project was initiated by the artist Arnold Mario Dall’O and organized by the Museum Kunst Meran. Among the featured figures are the hotel pioneer Emma Hellenstainer and the writer Franz Kafka. "PHuman Shapes" connects nature, history, and modern art, thus enriching Merano's public space.

From Merano train station, we recommend taking bus line 4 or 221. Get off at the "Theaterplatz" stop. From there it's a 3-minute walk to the sculptures.

From Merano train station, drive along Europa Allee and then at the roundabout take Corso della Libertà. Once you reach the theater, it's best to park in the city center, as the Promenade is a pedestrian zone. From the theater, take right and after about a minute you'll be on the promenade. There are Human Shapes along the promenade.

There are some parking spaces on the main streets, but there is also a parking lot on Corso della Libertà, in the city mall.
