The unique Ultental Valley and the Schwemmalm ski area are an ideal space for gliding, due to its geographical and thermal peculiarities. Both ambitious paraglider pilots and beginners can feel at home in the Ultental Valley.
Paragliding is possible in the Ultental Valley and at the Schwemmalm with all southern currents, but also with light northeastern and northwestern currents.
In winter the Schwemmalm offers starting points up to 2,600 m above sea level, and in summer up to 2,000 m above sea level. Paragliders can also climb to the top of the Mutegg mountain on foot. The landing area is very generous.

During the course of the morning, the Ultental Valley is often exposed to valley winds. The house beard moves from the church of St. Moritz over the air tower of the power station (very well seen from the air) in the direction of Mutegg. At the height of the air tower, the valley wind creates the first leeward vortices, and in the afternoon the wind usually becomes stronger.
Paragliders should be careful not to land too late in the day, especially in June and July. Landing between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. is recommended, as the valley wind turns in the afternoon and blows out of the valley at high speeds. The strength of the wind can be clearly seen from the waves of the reservoir.
If the valley wind has already turned, we recommend landing at the starting point or on the ski slopes if the altitude is sufficient. Except for the power line and the ski lifts, which run close to the ground, there are no obstacles in the air.
