In the Ultental Valley, the meadows are perhaps a bit more lush, the air a bit more pure than elsewhere.
Why?
Because the valley is so rich in water. A total of 44 lakes invite visitors to
fish, swim and dive in, and everywhere you can enjoy
fresh mountain water. Even the local tap water is spring water from the mountains of the Ultental Valley.
There are also
numerous healing springs used in the 18th and 19th centuries for drinking cures and spas. In addition to the Empress Elizabeth of Austria, other famous visitors to the spa facilities in the valley included Otto von Bismarck and the German writers, the brothers Thomas and Heinrich Mann.
Even today, the
iron and
mineral water of the springs is used for
drinking cures. Try it yourself. Water from the
Lotterbad,
Bad Lad and
Überwasser spas: can you taste the difference?
