Theatre in German: Romeo und Julia
A guest performance by the Bronski & Grünberg Theater in cooperation with the Volkstheater, Vienna // by Kaja Dymnicki and Alexander Pschill
Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet are no longer quite so young and neither are they Lovers. Both are nesters in the comfortable home of their wealthy parents. Romeo prefers to strum his lute all day long. Julia sleeps during the day because she dances at balls at night. What is comfortable for the children who have long since grown up is slowly becoming too colorful for the parents. Both houses hope that their offspring will finally stand on their own two feet. Romeo and Juliet, who do not want to move out, forge a clever plan. But every good intrigue quickly gets out of control. While Romeo and Juliet have their hands full, something changes between the two that surprises them and catches their parents off guard. The families are also troubled by the authoritarian duke, who severely punishes anyone who causes unrest. The houses of Montague and Capulet are caught up in the maelstrom of the resistance movement, and suddenly there is much more at stake than the old, small conflicts...
Kaja Dymnicki and Alexander Pschill swept the audience off their seats in the 24/25 season with "Amadeus". Now they take a fresh look at Shakespeare's classic with their usual enormous speed. "Great fun" (Der Falter). Director: Kaja Dymnicki, Alexander Pschill Stage and costume design: Kaja Dymnicki Sound: Christian Frank Composition: Stefan Lasko Dramaturgy: Lisa Kerlin With: Romeo: Stefan Lasko Julia: Julia Edtmeier Mrs. Montague: Alexander Jagsch Mr. Capulet/Deppino: Doris Hindinger Mercutio/Lorenzo/Fürst: Agnes Hausmann
