In the hiking and skiing area of Hafling, Vöran and Meran 2000 along the hiking trails, numerous mountain huts and mountain inns, which are easy to reach for families, invite you to stop off and treat guests to a successful mix of South Tyrolean specialties and Mediterranean lightness. Some hut owners also surprise guests with creative gourmet dishes that enrich the culinary offer. After a hike, they are the ideal place to admire the surrounding mountains from a sun terrace while enjoying a traditional South Tyrolean “Marende” with bacon, cheese and “Schüttelbrot” or the popular cheese and spinach dumplings.
The many awards, such as “Real Quality on the Mountain”, pay tribute to the quality and hospitality of the alpine inns and mountain huts in the region.

The restaurants on the sunny high plateau are largely open all year round and offer a culinary experience high above Meran in South Tyrol. Many restaurants also offer the opportunity to buy local products directly on site and thus experience the culture and way of life of the region, or even take them home with you. A special experience are the dumpling cooking courses, where visitors can learn how to prepare typical South Tyrolean dumplings from local experts and then taste them on site.
The mountain huts in Merano 2000, Hafling and Vöran look back on a long tradition and most of them are still privately owned. Thanks to their rustic, rural architecture, consisting of wood and natural stone, they also exude charm and convey a feeling of originality and down-to-earthness, which is also characterized by the hospitality of the hosts. From mid-May, the farmers traditionally bring their cattle to the mountain pastures - first the cattle, then the Haflinger horses a week or two later. The animals spend their summer vacation there until the end of September, feeding on fresh grass and juicy herbs and enjoying the healthy mountain air - side by side with the hikers, some of whom are on their way to the summit at an early hour to enjoy the unique mountain panorama in the light of the rising sun.
