The trend sport Speed Hiking
The new trend sport speed hiking is all about hiking at high speed. Equipped with sticks, little luggage and light clothing, demanding terrain is done uphill and as quickly as possible. The sticks help stabilize and simultaneously train the muscles of the upper body. For those who find hiking too boring and running or trail running too exhausting, speed hiking is just the right thing.
Also mountain running and
trailrunning are very popular in Hafling/Avelengo, Vöran and Meran 2000 as well as throughout South Tyrol. Every year there are numerous competitions in this discipline, such as the famous Südtirol Ultra Skyrace.
