In Tesimo/Tisens and Prissiano/Prissian, the sunny Alpine-Mediterranean climate of the region meets the cool nights of the high plateau. This provides the foundation for first-class farm produce. Among the best products are apples, cherries, wine and chestnuts, as well as jams and juices, honey, cheese, bacon, bread, wine and spirits.
The cheeses of the Laugenspitz dairy, the aromatic bacon from Tesimo and the regional whole-grain bread from two local bakeries are all popular. The Wehrburg Castle winery is one of the Independent Winegrowers of South Tyrol whose fine wines can be tasted at the winery. The Prissiano Spinnrunde manufactures warm, comfortable and stylish products from South Tyrolean mountain sheep’s wool, including Potschn (slippers), socks, hats and pillows.
