Mushroom picking in South Tyrol is governed by provincial law and is subject to the following regulations:
- Mushrooms may only be picked on even-numbered days between 7 am and 7 pm
- People who are resident in the municipality may collect up to 2 kg of mushrooms per day and person
- People who are not resident in the municipality may collect up to 1 kg of mushrooms per person per day
- Mushrooms must be roughly cleaned at the place where they are found and transported in a solid, open and well-ventilated container
- the use of rakes is prohibited.
People who are not resident in the municipality must pay a fee of €10 per person per day for collecting mushrooms. This fee is paid into the postal account in the name of the municipality.

Municipality of St. Pankraz: The permit can be purchased online at www.mysuedtirol.info.
The reason for payment and the day or days for the collective permit must be stated on the payment slip. Confirmation of payment of the fee must be presented together with an identity card in the event of any checks.
