The Stelvio National Park, with its stunning diversity of plants, animals, and breathtaking landscapes, is a true natural gem. To protect these valuable ecosystems, it is crucial for all visitors to follow certain rules. These are more than just guidelines – they are essential steps to ensure the protection and preservation of the park’s sensitive environment, including the conservation of rare plants and the maintenance of wildlife habitats.
1. Tour preparation: I plan my trips by checking the weather, bringing the right equipment, wearing sturdy footwear, and ensuring that I have enough water.
2. Transport: Whenever possible, I use public transportation for a safe and comfortable journey to and from my starting point.
3. Parking: I park my vehicle only in designated areas, never on meadows or along roadsides.
4. Staying on trails: I move only on designated hiking and cycling paths.
5. Private property: I respect the private property of others.
6. Shared paths: On trails used for multiple activities, such as hiking or cycling, I act with consideration and responsibility towards others and the environment.
7. Mountain huts: I show patience and understanding towards the hosts of mountain huts, who manage them with great effort and passion. When using the facilities, I purchase something, consume my own food away from the hut, and take my trash with me.
8. Mindful noise levels: I keep my noise levels in harmony with the quiet of nature and avoid unnecessary disturbances. My drone stays at home.
9. Protecting plants: I refrain from picking or collecting flowers, berries, mushrooms, or other plants.
10. Closing gates: I carefully close fences and gates to ensure the safety of grazing livestock.
11. Respecting wildlife: I respect the animals' habitat by keeping my distance and passing by quietly.
12. Dogs: I always keep my dog on a leash and have a muzzle in my backpack for emergencies.
13. No fires: Fires are strictly forbidden! They pose a risk to the natural and cultural landscape as well as to personal safety.
14. Camping: I camp only in designated areas.
15. Litter: I dispose of all waste, especially tissues, cigarette butts, and dog waste bags, in proper bins or take it home with me.
