In december 2015 we opend our idyllic San Luis hotel village with its cosy chalets and tree houses, situated in a sunny clearing surrounded by 40 hectares of private larch and spruce forest. With its quiet and picturesque setting on the Avelengo Plateau above Merano, it is a contemporary interpretation of the traditional South Tyrolean “Summer Retreat”, a magnificent symbiosis of nature, seclusion and the ambience of a sophisticated hotel. Discovering the nature that surrounds you is simple: the most beautiful hiking trails start right on your doorstep and are as long as you wish. Natural materials create a warm and cosy atmosphere. In building the chalets we have used only precious Mondholz (moon wood). Generous large panoramic windows, traditionally handmade articles, slate, clay walls that breathe and natural linen fabrics selected with great care are the secret behind the immediate sense of well-being. Our accommodation will instantly connect you with nature. Located right at the shore of the lake or in the midst of the fragrant pine forest, the chalets feature a fireplace and private sauna, while the tree houses are available with one or two storeys. Whatever your choice, your accommodation at the San Luis will offer you a unique atmosphere. The spacious and lavish clubhouse at the 5,800 sqm mountain lake, with zones dedicated to relaxation or gatherings, such as reception, lobby, bar, restaurants, cinema, wine and cheese cellar, forms the core of the San Luis resort. In our barn-sized pool area you can swim in a large indoor pool with a fireplace nearby, or in a heated outdoor pool, or enjoy the Jacuzzi in the middle of the lake. Unwinding is simple here, and you can also indulge in massages, beauty treatments and fitness facilities or relax in our numerous comfortably padded loungers in the relaxation rooms. In the kitchen too, we celebrate the motto “back to the roots”, fusing traditional South Tyrolean cuisine with the Mediterranean flavours of the south. To this end, both young and old seasonal vegetable varieties come straight from our own farm. Another special feature—one could almost call it a private ritual—is the Alpine-style breakfast which is delivered and lovingly served in your chalet every morning at a time of your choosing. Everything is just like the pictures—except that we cannot send with them the feeling of the sun on your skin, the fragrance of ancient wood and the dishes that make your mouth water… An experience you will be able to savour when you come here.
