Idyllic forests and meadows, interspersed with spectacular gorges and ravines in an unusually magnificent setting, surround the villages in the Alta Val di Non/Deutschnonsberg area.
Over millennia, the raging torrents helped to form the Rio Sass Canyon in Fondo. The stairs and walkways over the torrent bring hikers directly into a fascinating natural environment of boulders, green and red algae, and various types of ferns.
The gorge is situated in the Novella Alluvial Park, bordered by the villages of Cloz, Romallo and Dambel. Along the 3.5 km shaded forest trail, visitors with rubber-soled shoes and waterproof windbreakers can get close to the unique geology of the area. The walk is however not recommended for sufferers of vertigo.
Other outdoor activities include canoeing and river rafting. Sit on top canoe tours led by qualified and experienced instructors are also popular.
