The pond Sulfner Weiher in Hafling is at its loveliest in summer. White water lilies cover the pond while yellow irises, floating water plantains, marsh horsetails, bulrushes, bur-reed, and a host of other plants thrive at the shoreline.
The hike to Sulfner Weiher Pond leads first from the Nusser parking area in Hafling Dorf on trail no. 14, ascending up a slight grade to the Sonnenheim Restaurant. The route crosses the street there, runs past the Innergruberhof farm, and turns at the fork towards St. Kathrein. At this point, we reach the picturesque Sulfner Weiher pond, known for its unique vegetation.
The hike descends slightly, running past the Sulfner Riding Stable to St. Kathrein, which offers a magnificent view over Meran and ends along the blocked-off paved road back to the starting point.
Tip: Information stations provide information about the pond’s flora and fauna.
Coming from both directions of the freeway Meran - Bozen (MEBO), take the exit of Meran Süd and follow directions towards Meran first, to then turn right towards Hafling. Shortly before Hafling Dorf turn left towards Falzeben. Pass the information office and you will find the small parking place "Nusser" after about 100 metres on the right-hand side of the road.
