The
chapels and churches on the mountain foothills of Tisens/Tesimo and Prissian/Prissiano overlook the entire
Etschtal Valley: St. Christoph's church in Tisens, St. Hippolyt on the porphyry hill of Naraun/Narano, St. Nikolaus in the village of Gfrill/Caprile, St. Sebastian in Platzers/Plazzoles, St. Martin in Prissian and St. Jakob in the village of Grissian/Grissiano; also the nearby St. Apollonia in Sirmian/Sirmiano. Located in the main village of Tisens is the
Pfarrkirche Maria Himmelfahrt parish church, with
famous stained glass windows of the Augsburg school dating from 1520.
Contemplation trails lead the short distance to the St. Hippolyt's church in Naraun and the St. Jakob's church in Grissian. Near the
mountain churches, visitors will find
old restaurants such as the quaint
Schmiedlhof in Grissian, close to the St. Jakob's church, or the Apollonia restaurant close to the St. Apollonia church in Sirmiano.
