Guided tour in the parish church with the "Schnatterpeckaltar"

Guided tour of the Niederlana parish church with the Schnatterpeck altar. A first church was built on this site in the early Middle Ages on Roman foundations. In 1492, the present late Gothic wall pillar church was consecrated.

Josef Weingartner counts it among the "most beautiful Gothic churches in the country" in his "Art Monuments of South Tyrol". The Gothic winged altar from the workshop of Hans Schnattpereck is a work of art that is known far beyond the borders of the province.

Approach

The parish church is accessible by public transport. From Merano, take Line 211 - Lana Pomus and get off at the Pomus stop. From there, it takes about 10-12 minutes to walk to the church.
From the bus station in Lana, you can also take line 218 LanaBus (on weekdays, excluding Saturday) or line 215 Citybus. During the week, line 215 stops at Niederlana, Abzweigung Kirchweg; from there, you need to walk for about 10 minutes. On Saturdays and holidays, line 215 goes all the way to the church.
