Deep in the Texelgruppe Nature Park, the ten Spronser Seen lakes are situated on a high plateau northwest of Tirolo/Dorf Tirol. Spread over 30 hectares at an altitude of 2,500 m, the mountain lakes were created by retreating glaciers. The lakes are famous for their brilliant colors and varied sizes and depths.
Hikers reach the Spronser Seen lakes above Tirolo through a unique mountain landscape. In this barren terrain, Ibexes roam freely and marmots scuttle between the rocky outcrops. Since ancient times, the skies have always been a source of fascination to man, inspiring ancient rock paintings with images of the stars, as can be found at the nearby Oberkaser mountain shelter.
