The Tschögglberg makes itself fit for the future

3 committed tourism associations, 1 shared vision - this is the Tschögglberg tourism region, which was awarded GSTC certification and the South Tyrol Level 3 sustainability label in February 2025. Within just under a year, the tourism associations of Hafling-Vöran-Meran 2000, Mölten and Jenesien developed various measures and projects to turn the Tschögglberg into a sustainable tourism destination. They were supported by the technical expertise of the Ökoinstitut Südtirol | Alto Adige.

The kick-off and start of the project in spring 2024 marked the start of the major joint project between the three tourism associations of the Tschögglberg with the aim of establishing more sustainable tourism. The cooperation made it possible to combine the individual strengths of the areas, so Jenesien, as the climate community of Silver, was able to share the expertise and know-how already gathered, while Mölten brought a strong agricultural sector to the table and Hafling-Vöran was able to literally enrich the project as a driving force.

The sustainability team with sustainability officer Martha Pircher formed the supporting pillar and was able to develop a wide range of measures and projects with the help of project planning by the Ökoinstitut Südtirol | Alto Adige. Part of the process included stakeholder workshops, the involvement of the local population, a detailed data collection and risk analysis of the Tschögglberg and finally the development of a sustainability strategy.

The little Oswald church under the Ifinger mountain
Between the peaks of Ifinger and Plattinger, at the foot of the Oswaldscharte (gap of S. Oswald), an inconspicuous church with a small tower stands at 1,185 m above sea level on a small flat alpine pasture. The building, which interestingly does not have any hiking trail leading directly past or to it, nevertheless experiences great crowds once a year. Every year on 5 August, the inhabitants of the communities of Hafling and Schenna make a pilgrimage to that small church Meran 2000 to ask Saint Oswald (in Hafling "Oaswold") for protection from storms.

Two generations in harmony with nature
Erika and Elisabeth are mother and daughter. Together with their family they run the Eichernhof in Vöran. A beautiful farm a little below the village, surrounded by meadows and forests. With young cattle, chickens, fruit trees, bees, an old mill and a large garden where fresh vegetables, fruits and all kinds of herbs thrive. Almost everything that is served here is grown and produced by hand.
