Surrounded by apple orchards, the village of Nalles/Nals boasts some of the most scenic cycling routes in the area. Apart from the Etschradroute cycle track, with a long flat section running along the Etsch river, another trail runs along the route of the ancient Via Claudia Augusta. This former military and commercial Alpine road was built centuries ago on the order of the Roman Emperor, Claudius Agustus. The Via Claudia Augusta is more or less flat and boasts fantastic views of the surrounding landscape. The Apfelradweg bicycle trail running next to the apple orchards is also an enjoyable cycling route.
