The popular Waalwege trails in Merano and Environs lead along the historic irrigation channels and are easy hikes in a mild climate throughout the year. In the spring they lead through flowering meadows and forests, and in fall past golden vineyards and mixed forests. The waterways have no significant slopes and offer fascinating views stretching to the valley.
The Merano Waalrunde Circuit Trail connects all eleven Waalwege trails in Merano and Environs around South Tyrol over a total of 80 km: the Algunder Waalweg, the Kuenser Waalweg, the Maiser Waalweg, the Waalweg Riffian, the Schenner Waalweg, the Brandis Waalweg in Lana, the Tschermser and Marlinger Waalweg, the Rablander Waalweg and the Wallburgweg in Naturno/Naturns.
