The Passeiertal Valley is developing step by step through the joint commitment of municipalities, businesses, associations and many dedicated people across the valley. Our aim is to shape the future of tourism responsibly while balancing the interests of residents, businesses and visitors. Our destination strategy brings together key areas of action such as mobility, the regional economy, culture and resource management. Together, we are building on existing initiatives while creating new momentum for the future of the Passeiertal Valley.
A Shared Development Process
In 2024, the Passeiertal Valley was assessed by Green Destinations against a GSTC-recognised standard and was awarded the South Tyrol Sustainability Label – Level 1. The award is part of IDM South Tyrol's Tourism Sustainability Programme and is based on the criteria of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
The level achieved reflects the current stage of our destination management and provides the foundation for the next steps in our development. The next assessment is scheduled for 2027.
Moving Forward Step by Step
We see the Sustainability Label not as the end of a journey, but as the starting point.
Together with our partners, we are continuously working to:
• further improve mobility services,
• strengthen regional value creation,
• promote the responsible use of natural and cultural landscapes,
• safeguard the quality of life in the Passeiertal Valley over the long term.
Many of these measures are already part of our day-to-day work. Others will be implemented collaboratively over the coming years and reviewed on a regular basis.
