Some 100km in length, the Meraner Höhenweg or Merano High Mountain Trail encircles the entire Texelgruppe Nature Park and is one of the most beautiful circular trails in the Alps. Between the Passeiertal Valley in the east and the Schnalstal Valley in the west you will find marker 24, a six-day tour leading through fantastic scenery – alpine meadows full of flowers alternate with shady woods, bubbling mountain streams with sheer rock faces. And at regular intervals, you’ll also find mountain inns and restaurants where you can rest your feet and take refreshment. The fourth and fifth stages of the Merano High Mountain Trail lead through the Passeiertal Valley. Snaking between the white-water rivers in Pfelders/Plan and Moos/Moso and mountain hamlets, along ancient church and farm paths, the trail leads past Ulfas and Matatz through the Passeiertal Valley and culminates in breath-taking views over Meran and Environs.
