Overlooking Meran/Merano, Schenna/Scena is part of a large mountain hiking area with many vineyards and peaks, ideal for families and nature lovers.
The
hiking area around
Schenna covers different altitudes, from lower vineyards leading uphill all the way to the wooden crosses on the
mountain summits. Easily followed signposted
trails connect the mountain huts, forming part of a 500-kilometre network of paths. The
cable cars from the village of Verdins near Schenna or from the village of Saltaus/Saltusio in Passeiertal Valley/Val Passiria lead to the Hirzer mountain hiking area, which is also ideal for leisurely walks and family recreation. Experienced climbers can test their abilities on the Hirzer peak – which at 2,781m a.s.l. is the highest peak in the Sarntal Alps.
Across a landscape filled with old farms, mountain huts and shelters, the picturesque Schennaberg mountain hiking area overlooks a breath-taking panoramic view. A scenic trail leading from the hamlet of Falzeben to the Piffinger Köpfl mountain hut leads across the sunny Merano 2000 mountain plateau.
