In the old barn of Gsteier mountain farm, a small window into the past opens up. The farmhouse museum houses a collection of historical tools from rural life in South Tyrol – many of them original pieces from the farm itself, others carefully collected, acquired, or donated over the years.
With great passion, Franz Mair Senior built up this collection. His aim was to preserve the simple tools and the often harsh life of past generations – and to make them tangible again for today’s visitors. As you walk through the barn, ploughs, scythes, wooden tools, and many other everyday objects tell the story of a time when manual labor, closeness to nature, and hardship shaped daily life.
The farmhouse museum is freely accessible and open at all times. Hikers and visitors are warmly invited to pause and take a look back at the traditional South Tyrolean farming life.
