Paths along the ancient irrigation channels, so-called Waalwege, serve as popular family hiking trails of medium height without steep inclines and were formerly used to irrigate the fields. Some of the most beautiful Waalwege trails in South Tyrol can be found around Naturno/Naturns, such as the Stabener, Latschander and Tscharser Waalwege trails. The Partschinser, Algunder and Marlinger Waalwege trails are also located nearby. The Waalwege trails at Naturno form part of the larger Merano Waalrunde Circuit Trail, which connects eleven of these walking routes in Merano and Environs in a circle running around the valley basin.
