Waalwege are traditional walking paths that follow historic irrigation channels, built centuries ago to bring water from mountain streams to fields and orchards. Goaßlschnöllen is a traditional South Tyrolean folk custom where specially made whips create loud, rhythmic cracking sounds. Once used by farmers and shepherds for communication and seasonal rituals, it is now celebrated at village festivals and competitions, where skill, rhythm, and technique are judged.🏔🌳

The fishing season begins as early as the second Sunday in February and lasts until October 31. Around Merano, numerous spots offer brown trout, rainbow trout and char in clear waters.🐟🎣

Top spots:
• Passer, fast-flowing waters with good catch opportunities
• Ultental with the Falschauer, ideal for fly fishing.
• Mountain lakes (e.g. Zoggler, Grünsee, Schwarzsee), quiet spots at higher altitudes.

An Italian fishing licence and a daily permit are required. Daily permits are available online via the Südtirol Fishing App.
