Art Nouveau - the Kurhaus in Merano

Built on the Passer Promenade, the old Kurhaus wellness center is the symbol of the city of Merano as a spa town and one of the finest multi-purpose buildings on the southern side of the Alps. Its rooms regularly house cultural and social events, conferences, exhibitions, celebrations and galas. The Kurhaus was built in the second half of the nineteenth century. The original part, the Pavillon des Fleurs, was inaugurated in 1874 and has existed practically unchanged to this day. The new wing, which included the Kursaal, a huge hall designed by Vienna Successionist architect Friedrich Ohmann, was inaugurated on 31 December 1914. The access at the Kurhaus is allowed only during events.

Public transport
From the train station the most convenient option is to board one of the city lines (1 or 4) to reach "Merano, Piazza Teatro" bus stop, followed by a 5-minute walk.
Description to arrive at destination
The Kurhaus is located in the city centre. By bike you reach it via Corso Libertà. The riverside of the Kurhaus, i.e. the Passer Promenade, is a pedestrian zone, it is not allowed to go by bike.

Please note: via Cassa di Risparmio and via Galilei towards the Princess Castle are exclusively pedestrianised from 10 am to 6.30 pm, bicycles must be pushed.
Parking
There are reserved parking spaces for people with disabilities in via Galilei. Please note that this is a traffic-calmed zone. Entry to this zone is only permitted if you have deposited your disabled parking permit and your car's licence plate number with the local council Municipio di Merano in advance.

You will find bicycle parking spaces located in Corso Libertà at the junction with via Cassa di Risparmio and via Galilei in front of the town hall. Take care not to park bicycles and e-rollers carelessly. They can pose a danger to blind and visually impaired people as they create obstacles to safely walking along paths and finding entrances. People in wheelchairs and parents with pushchairs can also be hindered by carelessly parked bicycles. Please use the bicycle parking spaces provided.
