You may become a child again here, and the children themselves will find that magic again on site that only this time of year can offer. You are in Merano, at the Merano Christmas Market. A place where the warmth of Advent and the city's flair are breathed in. A town with its traditions but always open to new things.

We attach great importance to our environment and protect it with several precautions. We like the beautiful and good things, especially those of our territory. You can see this for yourself by walking along the exhibitors' huts and looking at the gastronomes' menus. We love intimacy, but we also know how to have fun. We live in an Advent full of emotions, and we hope to transmit them to you and involve you: the heart beats at the Merano Christmas Market, and the spirit can be felt in the whole town, the entire territory and among its people.

Advent Calendar 2026

There is a moment in the year when time seems to slow down, and every day fills with anticipation and sweetness. From this spirit came an Advent calendar conceived as a small daily ritual — a shared project between the Merano Tourist Board, who developed the concept and structure, and 58chocolate by René Romen, who took full care of the chocolate side, from production to artisanal craftsmanship.

Each calendar is assembled entirely by hand, from filling to final closing. Inside, 24 chocolates created by René exclusively for this calendar, made with selected ingredients and a production process cared for down to the smallest detail. The chocolates are wrapped by hand and placed individually in each little window, ensuring a carefully curated experience from the first day to the last.

The calendar is made entirely of FSC-certified paper, and also carries the touch of Palmen, whose palette of yellow and green lights creates a warm, intimate atmosphere.

More than just a container, it is a journey of flavors, images, and artisanal care, designed to accompany the wait for the holidays with sweetness and turn every day into a small, special moment.

Each calendar comes with two collector’s postcards as a gift (13 × 18 cm), featuring the illustrations from the 2025 and 2026 editions. Available at the Merano Tourist Office and 58chocolate in Merano.

The Christmas Chalet Village at piazza della Rena square

Set amid the mountains yet in the heart of an elegant town, the Christmas Village on piazza della Rena square perfectly combines Alpine charm with an urban atmosphere.

In the large chalet, Michelin-starred chef and 2024 Chef of the Year Egon Heiss serves warm dishes throughout the day. In the evening, guests are invited to take a seat and savour a fine dining experience. Additional wooden huts line the area between the elegant Palais Esplanade and the building complex that belonged to the Order of the English Ladies until 2012.

Piazza della Rena square also hosts workshops for adults, as well as guided organic gin and chocolate tastings.

The Christmas World at piazza Terme square

This year, piazza Terme square once again transforms into a magical winter wonderland, adorned with countless Christmas trees. Just a few steps from the Merano Christmas Market, on the opposite side of the Passirio River, piazza Terme square is an absolute must for anyone who loves Christmas.

The main highlight for most children is the ice rink, which is open daily. Skates of all sizes can, of course, be hired directly on site. For the best view of the ice rink and the festive city of Merano, head to the Sky Bar on the roof of the Christmas Pavilion.

For a cosy lunch or dinner, the much-loved giant “Christmas baubles” return this year in six different colours. Here, you can enjoy à la carte dishes specially created for these unique dining spheres. Reservations for the baubles can be made via the website of Terme Merano: termemerano.it/die-kugln.

Solidarity & handicraft

A good bit of charity is everwhere:
The charitable associations and organisations at the Solidarity House alternate with their presence and offer insights into their activities: youth services, societies for the prevention of cruelty to animals, senior citizens' and women's groups, church and supra-regional organisations, even district committees offer the opportunity to do good for yourself and others with their products ranging from arts and craftworks to decorative items.

The charitable organization Handswork, also represented in the Solidarity House, produces, for example, the Swiss stone pine lanterns in its workshop in Cermes, which are used in the lantern guided tours, organised by the Tourist Office Merano and can be purchased in the Info House.

Re-Bello & Rifò, on the other hand, collect merino wool from all over Italy and use the recycled material to create headbands and caps for Merano. These can also be purchased at the Info House at the Merano Christmas Market and at the Tourist Office.
