Preamble
The Azienda di Cura, Soggiorno e Turismo di Merano (Merano Tourist Office), which has administrative autonomy, is a legal entity under public law and is under the control and supervision of the province government.
The Merano Tourist Bureau, one of the oldest in Europe, is an historical city institution. Its founding dates back to 1855, when Merano was already an important health resort town for the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It has managed to retain its strategic importance for Merano tourism. The tourist bureau is a driving force for the city’s economy; this function is widely recognised and supported by the Municipality of Merano.
The Merano Tourist Bureau is a structure organised to guarantee the city’s character as a holiday destination and to be a major driving force for the economy as well as a platform for developing tourism in the greater Merano area.
