Merano Grape Festival that takes place on the
third weekend of October. First held in 1886, this annual harvest fair comprises South Tyrolean autumnal specialities, new wine, and live music performances. The event highlight is the Sunday parade through the centre of Merano, featuring eye-catching ornamental floats and numerous traditional bands.
Starting in
mid-August the
“südtirol festival merano.meran” event is one of Europe's leading classical music festivals. Another major tourist attraction is the
"Grand Prix of Merano South Tyrol" steeplechase, which usually takes place on the last Sunday in September and is among the most highly anticipated races of its kind in Europe. During the course of the November
Merano WineFestival, the spa town is transformed into a gourmet mecca highlighted by wine tastings and cooking demonstrations.
