300 days of sun a year!

The climate in South Tyrol is generally exceptionally mild. It is usually referred to as being the continental mountain type climate and the Alpenhauptkamm, which extends to the north of our little village, offers good protection from the cold north winds as does the Ortler Mountain Group to the west. This part of South Tyrol is well-known for its pleasant temperatures and low rainfall and the Merano basin, especially, enjoys really beautiful weather with an average of 300 days of sun a year.

Next evolution
On Wednesday, a cold front will bring increasingly unsettled conditions. As the day progresses, there will be widespread thunderstorms and, as a result, a northerly foehn wind will pick up in many places. Temperatures will fall. Thursday will be quite sunny, with morning clouds soon clearing. The Föhn will continue, particularly in the north. Friday will also be mainly sunny, although cloud cover may be slightly thicker at times along the alpine crest. Saturday is expected to be sunshine across the whole region. As the weekend approaches, temperatures will rise again, particularly in the south.

Mountain weather tomorrow
With a weak south-westerly upper-level flow, the alpine region will remain within a warm and unstable air mass.
It will be sunny to begin with in most mountain ranges. However, as the day progresses, more cumulus clouds will form, and as a result, the likelihood of thunderstorms will increase again.
