Meraner Festspiele 2026 - in German „The Silence of the City“

A spa town, having awakened from years of a Sleeping Beauty-like slumber, invites guests to the grand opening of a new thermal bath — an event expected to draw press representatives from across the globe. In the play The Silence of the City, this seemingly local occasion becomes a stage for world theatre, where the spotlight falls on the most pressing questions of our time. Anyone who doesn't laugh at this performance — with its historical costumes from the Belle Époque — may well have lost the ability to laugh altogether. An evening of theatre marked by rare intensity, beauty, and poetry. If you don't laugh here, you may never laugh again.
