Texelbahn mountain station – Merano High Mountain Trail Nr.24 – 1,000 Steps Gorge – Unterstell mountain station

The Texelbahn cable car takes hikers comfortably up to the mountain station at around 1,500 metres. From here, the route follows the Merano High Mountain Trail Nr. 24 westwards. The trail crosses the Schindelbach valley, passing traditional farms and varied landscapes, before reaching the Lahnbach valley, famous as the Gorge of the 1,000 Steps.

In this section, numerous steps and a suspension bridge must be tackled. The trail then continues more gently across sunny alpine meadows and past traditional farms on the Naturns Sonnenberg, with several opportunities for refreshments.

Finally, trail 24B leads to the Unterstell cable car mountain station, where the hike ends. The descent to the valley is quick and easy by cable car.
