General description
This varied stage of the Merano High Mountain Trail (No. 24) links the Hochmuth cable car mountain station above Dorf Tirol with Giggelberg above Partschins. Along this panoramic route, hikers enjoy spectacular views, an impressive suspension bridge, traditional alpine huts and more demanding alpine sections.

From Dorf Tirol, take the Hochmuth cable car up to the Muthöfe farms. From the mountain station, climb briefly uphill to the restaurant Steinegg, where the Merano High Mountain Trail No. 24 begins.
Following trail No. 24 westwards along the Hans-Frieden Trail, you reach the hut Leiter Alm (1,522 m) after about 1.5 hours. The path continues through woodland to the hut Hochganghaus (1,839 m).
Shortly before the hut, a 55 m suspension bridge crosses the Töllgraben gorge. From here, the trail becomes more alpine, leading past the viewpoint Hohe Wiege (1,809 m) to the hutTablander Alm (1,788 m).
A gentle descent brings you to the Zielbach stream and Nasereit Hut (1,523 m). Following trail No. 24 through shaded forest, you finally reach Giggelberg (1,565 m) above the Texelbahn cable car mountain station in Partschins.
TIP: Below the Steinegg restaurant on Hochmuth, a spectacular viewing platform offers wide-ranging views over Merano, the Adige Valley and the surrounding mountains. Two telescopes provide interesting information about the visible peaks and the traditional farming of the steep fields around the Muth farms.
