The Texel Group Nature Park is well protected from bad weather coming from the north and is home of a great variety of wild animals including the nimble ibex or mountain goats, whistling marmots, agile chamois, elegant Golden Eagles, noble falcons, sparrow hawks, bearded Golden Vultures and buzzards. Just take a look up towards the sky and see if you can spot a mighty bird-of-prey gliding on a thermal and eyeing its next victim! The park also makes the perfect home for smaller birds – wood-peckers, the heath cock, black cock, wood grouse and others. The shy Fire Lizard lives in hidden, sheltered places and, if you happen to see one out in the open, you’ll know that bad weather is on the way!
