Renovation of the Lueg Bridge on the Brenner Motorway A13

As part of an extensive renovation of the Lueg Bridge on the Brenner Motorway A13, traffic restrictions will come into effect

Since January 2025, traffic on the Lueg Bridge along the Brenner motorway (A13) has generally been restricted to one lane in each direction.

On approximately 180 high-traffic days per year, a second lane is temporarily opened to improve traffic flow.
Important for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes: When two lanes are available, heavy vehicles must use the inner, left-hand lane. An automatic monitoring system ensures compliance with this regulation.

Due to road surface repairs on the Lueg Bridge, additional traffic restrictions will apply from 12 to 15 October and from 19 to 22 October 2026.

Key information at a glance:
During the day: Only one lane will be available in each direction.
At night (9:00 pm–5:00 am): Additional driving restrictions for trucks over 3.5 tonnes on the A12 and A13 motorways.
At night (10:00 pm–5:00 am): Driving restrictions for other vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, including buses and motorhomes, between Matrei-Steinach and Brenner-Nord.

Alternative route for buses: Regional diversion via the B182 Brenner road.

The main construction work will take place at night and is expected to be completed by 23 October 2026 at the latest.

Reconstruction of the Lueg Bridge began in March 2025 and is being carried out in several phases.

The first new bridge structure is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027, while the entire construction project is expected to be completed by the end of 2030.

Traffic restrictions may continue until the project is finished.

Traffic update: Reschen Pass & Landeck Tunnel 2026

Due to construction and safety improvement works, temporary traffic restrictions may occur along the Reschen Pass road (B180) and in the Landeck Tunnel area. To help you plan your journey to South Tyrol, we've put together the most important information.

Reschen Pass – current road closures
Construction work on the Kanzel protective gallery and additional road safety measures is ongoing along the Reschen Pass road (B180). As a result, temporary road closures are scheduled until 30 October 2026.

Closure times from 31 August to 30 October 2026:
Monday to Thursday: 7:30 am–6:00 pm
Friday: 7:30 am–2:00 pm
Outside these hours, the road is generally open to traffic. Short-notice changes are possible.

Diversion during road closures
During closure hours, traffic is diverted through the Swiss Engadin region (B184 and B185).
The alternative route is approximately 6.6 km longer and adds around 10 minutes to your journey under normal traffic conditions.

Important information for motorhomes and vehicles with trailers:
Motorhomes up to 3.5 tonnes: no additional heavy vehicle charge
Motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes: Swiss heavy vehicle charge applies, depending on the vehicle and length of stay
Caravans and trailers: check applicable length and traffic restrictions

Landeck Tunnel – overnight closures
Due to construction work on the emergency escape tunnel and tunnel infrastructure, overnight closures are scheduled until 11 October 2026 (inclusive).

Closure times:
Daily from 7:30 pm to 6:00 am.
During these closures, traffic is diverted via Landeck and Zams.

Our travel tip
Whenever possible, plan your journey outside the closure hours and allow some extra travel time. Check the latest traffic conditions shortly before departure to ensure a smooth and relaxed journey to Parcines (Partschins), Rablà (Rabland) and Tel (Töll).
