Traffic Restrictions in South Tyrol
In the coming weeks, partial closures on the Reschen Pass Road and the Lueg Bridge (Brenner Motorway, Austria) may affect your travel plans. To avoid unnecessary stress, stay updated on the latest traffic conditions and plan accordingly.

These construction works are essential to improve the safety and quality of these key routes. While it might require some patience in the short term, the long-term benefit is a modern, reliable infrastructure for safer and more comfortable travel in the future.
From September 2024 to December 2026, the Reschen Pass Road (B180) will be closed due to the construction of a protective rockfall tunnel.
This project aims to enhance safety on this vital traffic route.

During the closure, we recommend using the alternative route through Switzerland. This route takes you via Engadinerstraße (B184) and Martinsbruckerstraße (B185), adding only 6.6 km to the distance. Depending on traffic, the detour takes approximately 10 minutes longer.

You can find a detailed map of the route (Pfunds – Nauders) on Google Maps.

From January 2025, the Lueg bridge will only be passable in one lane

Starting October 7, repair work on the Lueg Bridge will address road surface damage. During this period, which is expected to last three to four weeks, traffic will be reduced to a single lane.
From January 2025, traffic on the Lueg Bridge will temporarily be limited to one lane per direction to allow for essential maintenance work. In case of heavy traffic, an additional lane can be opened to ensure smooth traffic flow. Recent tests have confirmed that this flexible solution is both safe and effective, minimizing disruptions for drivers.
