Mountain bike trails from Lana lead from the valley through woods, meadows and some of the most beautiful pastures in the region.
Classic
MTB routes in Lana include the ascent up to Marling mountain and the Mount Vigiljoch circuit. The hillside Moosweg circuit to Tesimo/Tisens has excellent views overlooking the valley. The Ultner Höfeweg farms hiking trail that leads past old farms and well-maintained farm buildings is also fascinating. The biking tour from S. Pancrazio/St.Pankraz in the Val d’Ultimo/Ultental Valley to the Mariolberg mountain is short but demanding.
Along spectacular alpine trails
Guided MTB tours in Lana and Environs pass apple orchards, along gravel roads and through the forests to the lesser-known corners of the Val Venosta/Vinschgau Valley and the Val d’Ultimo/Ultental Valley.
In Lana
experienced guides organize a
mountain biking camp in late spring every year. Birgit and Robert Erb lead groups of cyclists into the mountains three times a week, to locations such as the Völlaner Badl inn in Viaoan/Völlan and the Kreuzjöchl ridge. The
MeranAlpin mountaineering school (Bergsteigerschule MeranAlpin) also organizes regular guided MTB tours up to the majestic summits around Lana.
Lana and its surroundings are famous as a haven for mountain-bikers, and offer guided mountain-bike tours with challenging and beautiful destinations in and around the Adige Valley. The Mountain-Bike Camp is open between late May and the middle of June each year. The mountain climbing school Meran Alpin offers half-day tours (difficulty levels easy to intermediate) with always new destinations in the surrounding area.
One of the tours on offer will take you from Postal to Bolzano (28 km). The cycling route follows along the ancient Roman trade road Via Claudia Augusta along the Adige River; and is ideally suited for the whole family, as you can stop at various public pools on your way. Alternatively - how about a tour into the wild Passeier Valley! This tour will take you along a beautiful and sunny route from Merano to St. Leonhard (approx. 20 km) along the Passer River.
Other tours will take you to the reservoirs in the Ulten Valley or to the car-free area of the S. Vigilio mountain pass; you will travel along forest trails across untouched larch forests and beautiful green fields to the high Alpine regions. The more challenging tours offer steep ascents as well as exciting downhill runs, like the one from the S. Vigilio down to Aschbach.
