Mushroom Picking in Lana and Surroundings

Exploring the Local Forests

The forests around Lana and on Mount Vigiljoch invite you to discover nature in a special way. Mount Vigiljoch in particular, Lana's car-free local mountain, offers a beautiful setting for mushroom picking with its extensive woodlands and unspoilt natural landscape. Among moss-covered forest floors, fragrant fallen leaves and old trees, a little patience and a keen eye may reward you with some of nature's hidden treasures. It's a wonderful way to combine exercise in the fresh air with a special experience in nature.

To ensure that mushroom picking remains in harmony with nature, clear regulations apply in South Tyrol. Below you'll find the most important rules and information about mushroom-picking permits in Lana and Tscherms/Cermes.
In South Tyrol, mushroom picking is regulated by provincial law and the following rules must be observed:

* mushroom picking is permitted only on even-numbered days of the month, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
* residents of the municipality may collect up to two kilograms of mushrooms per person per day
* non-residents of the municipality may collect up to one kilogram of mushrooms per person per day
* mushrooms must be roughly cleaned at the place where they are collected and transported in rigid, open, and ventilated containers
* the use of rakes and hooks is prohibited

Non-residents of the municipality must pay a fixed fee of €10.00 per person per day in order to collect mushrooms.

The fee must be paid to the municipality. Further information on the payment procedure and how it works can be found on the municipality's website.
